Craftster mobile, iPhone, iPad, etc. app?

Any chance we can get a mobile compatible version of craftster?

If craftster runs off the phpBB engine, there are quite a few mobile skins and add-ons out there already, most just utilizing a new stylesheet that would only be activated if a mobile browser is detected.

As it is now, browsing on a smartphone or the like is next to impossible.  Drop down menus often don't work on the smaller screens since you can't see the whole list at once, and trying to scroll will either close the menu or select something else.  Also, the larger ads have a tendency to fill the screen, and if you try to scroll them away you activate them.

Even just an detect of a mobile browser sending you to a heavily pared down site using menu trees instead of dropdowns would make browsing on a mobile device a lot easier.

I figure I can't be the only one who loves to read craftster when they're out and about, and since I'm starting school in the fall I know I'll have a lot of on-campus down time spent browsing the web on my iphone between classes.

I have a Blackberry Curve 8330.  I find the main page loads up with all of the pictures and ads and things except for the project picture thumbnails.  Once I click on "community" I'm into text-only.  I can't see ANY project pictures on my phone, which sucks, but I've still been keeping busy on it checking out the discussion boards and whatnot.

Also, I've noticed that topics I've turned off notices for under "replies to my posts" still sometimes show up when I check it on my phone. (But only if someone has replied to that thread *after* I've checked that page on my computer.)

So, I agree, a nicer mobile interface would be lovely! ^_^

I'm fairly certain this is something we'd love to do but it's a matter of finding the time and resources!

Yeah I'd love to read it on my iPod Touch but it's pretty much impossible. When I tried, the ads took so long to load, and ate up so much precious real estate (and so many of them are in flash which isn't supported by the iPhone or Touch) that it's just unusable. I'd love a streamlined version for mobile devices too. (And if FOC could perhaps turn off/limit ads on the mobile version too, that alone would go a long way towards making it functional.)

I have an iPhone and would love to have Craftster at my fingertips!  A Craftster app would be awesome, but even just a mobile compatible version of the website would be excellent. Right now it takes a very long time for the page to load. I would be willing to pay for a Craftster app on my iPhone!

Is this something that is possible? I was just on my iphone and thought "I wonder if there is an app for this?" it would be so awesome!

I wouldn't pay for an app for it, but a mobile version would be lovely. Smartphones are only becoming more plentiful and I find that I use Ravelry on my iPhone all the time because it is just so easy to use when I need to look quickly at a pattern.

I just installed Opera Mini on my BlackBerry and I like how it displays Craftster better than my IE mobile did.  Now, it's slower, but it shows all of the pictures!

Have you thought about making a iPad/iPhone app for this site? It would be awesome to be able to view the articles and interactive with the forums on a dedicated app.
