I cut and folded a tiny...

from a clothing catalogue (White Stuff - as catalogues go they use pretty good quality paper). For size reference, they are between 1 and 2 inches tall.

ok not so much part of a zoo but...

and finally:

sorry for so many pictures! I got a bit carried away... there are more animals too that I haven't included. they're a little difficult to photograph!

Although the idea was my own, I was inspired a little to try paper cutting by Jeffery Rudell's articles on CraftStylish, and also by the work of Peter Callesen. But this was only my first attempt at paper cutting, so they don't really compare  Cheesy

Thanks for looking, comments and criticism very much appreciated!

Stunning stuff, I love the flamingos too. The negative beneath them looks like a reflection on water, which just adds to the realism. Beautiful.

thanks for all the lovely comments! I'm so glad that people could tell what some of them are, like the zookeeper and the penguins, I thought they might be a little unclear...

pixieval: wow wisted? I am flattered (though not entirely sure what wisting is...)

and they are rather fragile  Cheesy I've been carefully saving them from being crushed all week... couldn't bear to see them ruined!!!

This rocks!  I like how the cutout flamingos have their own shadows.

I love the little cleanup guy with the shovel . . . he's an important part of zoo life, no doubt.  Wink

Oh, so awesome!!! I always wanted to have that kind of patience. When I first saw them I thought "Peter Callesen"!!! He's got some competition with you!

I love the vulture in the tree (my fave, I think), and the aquarium scene is really clever. And what zoo is complete without the "petting zoo" with sweet lambs for the kiddies to snuggle?!

You did a great job. I'm jealous.

thank you thank you thank you!!! I don't think I've ever had this many comments before  Embarrassed

GORGEOUS!!! what did you use to cut with??

err it was a craft knife thing, I'm not sure it's actually meant for crafts but I wanted to try papercutting and I didn't want to have to buy stuff, so I just used what I had in the house.
cheap crafting is the best  Cheesy

also, interesting point, I can't draw, but I had no probelm cutting the paper shapes - for some of them I tried practicing drawing them first but it was much easier just diving in with the knife on the paper. has anyone else found this? I thought it was odd...
