Oh, for the love of Ernst Haeckel.   Wink  He was a German biologist/pschycologist/astronomist/anthropologist of the 1860's, and his biological plates are just fantastic.  I think the incredible beauty and order inherent in every thing, even the most miniscule and (seemling) insignificant, is just overwhelming.  It reminds me of the beauty in myself, too,  and especially the parts of my being that can't be seen (generosity, honesty, craftness Wink, etc).  Even though I've never subscribed to any concrete notion of what could be called God/Higher Power (let alone organized religions), I suppose it does have a lot to do with faith, both personal and cosmic.

I'm thinking about the one I've got circled, but the hardest part for me is making up my mind.  There are several plates that I am particularly drawn to, so I'm considering getting a "plate" done on my back, with a few radiolaria / diatom / etc.  My only problem with that is thinking of some way to connect them all together - I'm generally not very pleased with tattooed "water," especially since these would probably have to be done in pretty detailed grayscale.

His jellyfish are fantastic, too.  If you want, you can look at all of his plates here. -->

I've been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo for the past 4 or 5 months, and I pretty much decided that if I get one, it will be a sort of sailor tattoo banner, like a little ribbon, with the French word for "writer" written on it.

Here's the general idea.  I just made it in like 2 seconds in paint, and I couldn't get the text to arch with the lines of the banner, but you get the idea.  I want it shaded in red, and I think I would like it on one side of my lower back or on my hip

I've always loved this, but I don't know if I would ever get it:

I'm very excited and thought I'd share the joyous news. My tattoo artist is flying over in 2 weeks so I can get some work done!! Yay!! I'm finishing up my chest piece and possible getting my wings. Anyone have behind the ear tats? I'm thinking of getting something small on each side but can't decide if its a waste since I won't get to see them.

PinkMafia:
I don't have any tattoos personally, but a guy came into the shop where I work yesterday with a little pair of stars behind his ears, and they looked gorgeous.
What would you want to get?
A friend of mine is debating between stars, hearts or some kind of card suit.

I'm thinking about stars too! One on each side or a few small ones on each side. They have no personal meaning it would just because they are cute. Most of my tattoo's are meaningful which is why I'm unsure, plus I'd only see them in the mirror Tongue

If I were to get a tattoo I would get stars, blue stars.
