For this month's challenge I was inspired by those "picture made of pictures" things that used to be really popular where a larger image was made up of millions and millions of little smaller images.  We have a table on our back deck that has tiles on top that lift out for easy cleaning and also so you can change it up by putting in different tiles.  We bought it with the intention of having tons of different tiles so that we could change it up regularly but never really followed through past the original tiles that came with it.  I decided to combine the two and thus my Rainbow Collage Table Tiles were born!

My fat arm demonstrating that the tiles lift out  Grin

For each tile I cut out BILLIONS (AAAAHH!) of little images from catalogs and seperated them by color: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink, Purple, Brown, and White.  I then assembled them into 11x11" collages, coated them with Mod Podge, glued them to 12x12" tiles that I bought from our local hardware store, and sealed them with a few coats of spray on Krylon Clear Glaze.  They are completely waterproof and very durable (unless you drop them, of course!)  The colors all work very well together and I'm quite pleased with the result.  Because they can be removed from the table itself, you can rearrange them to make any pattern that most pleases your eye.  The best part is that since I snipped everything out of catalogs, there are tons of little pictures within each collage which makes them a great conversation piece at parties or just when you're sitting around enjoying some alone time!

All in all it took me about three weeks from start to finish.  I decided to give them to my mom when I was finished and she loved them!

Here's a close up of each collage as the glaze was drying.  My favorites are Brown because it has cookies on it and Yellow because of the smiley faces:

Red

Orange

Yellow

Green

Blue

Pink

Purple

Brown

and White

In the end I think I used over 20 catalogs and had to have a few donated from friends.  All I have to say is thank goodness for Williams & Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Jackson & Perkins, and Coldwater Creek!  Grin

Hope you all like it!

Thanks for viewing!  Cheesy

Edit:   Shocked Oh my gosh!  Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who voted!  It was such a surprise and an honor to have so many people vote for my very first project ever on Craftster, what a fantastic community.  Smiley

This is brilliant!  I love the way you can sit and try to spot different images (I saw the kitty, smiley face etc).  Great idea & well done!
