I made these capri pants a couple of months ago. This was my first trouser reconstruction, so um, it's kinda crappy, but I like it.  I saw some really cute pants similar to these at Wet Seal, but in my opinion, their regular prices are far too outrageous.  Plus, they only had larger sizes and the pants didn't have belt loops.  Here is my version that I think turned out even better than the ones in the store.

Basically, I took a pair of my grandfather's old dress pants that were too small for him.  He's had these things since before I was born, and I'm 28.  I cut the waistband off and made long stitches with bright yellow embroidery thread all around.

Here is a closeup of the cuff.  It is a bit crooked, actually, but I kinda like it that way.  It gives them character.  And they are supposed to be freyed.   I cut the bottoms of the legs off and resewed them to make the cuffs.  I cut the part of the leg that I cut off so that I could make a thick cuff at the bottom and sew it on.  I sewed them on with regular thread and made long stitches with yellow embroidery thread.

I put my own buttons on, and sewed my own flower.

They are a bit big, actually, because I've lost some weight, but they fall kind of like hip huggers, so it's all good.  When they get too big to wear, I'll just take them up.

Very cute! Cheesy
Was there a zipper in the pants originally?
If so did you take it out or leave it in?

There was a zipper, but I took it out, because it basically got ruined when I cut the waistband off.  They're just button fly now.
