I will have to say that AQ had quite a clever way of estimating things.. it worked, though!

Kayrun, I'm guessing you'd be looking for a melt + pour soapmaking kit?

Yikes, today has been a nuthouse.  My husband was laid off from his job this morning so everything's a little shaken up right now.  He's got a couple of months severance and I've already got him signed up for health insurance through my work so at least he's covered.  He's taking a couple days to settle before starting the job hunt on Monday.

I had written down a bunch of things that I want to make for the swap but might have to focus on my Etsy store a little more over the next few weeks to see if I can boost some sales there just in case.  We'll see how it goes - hopefully things will go well with the job hunt and I can keep being active over here!

crumpet, I'm so sorry to hear about the layoff. Sending good thoughts your husband's way for a quick and easy job search!

Woot! I won the yarn! Now that is an awesome pick-me-up after a crappy 13-hour day.Yippee!

On a crafty note, I got lapoli's home and bath goodies in the mail today (I'll pm all the organizers tomorrow, I'm dead beat right now) and they ROCK!!! Lapoli, I think my fave is the carpet freshener. That is to-die-for. I'm going to buy a bunch more from you and stock up. Yummm!

AQ, congrats on winning.  So how many miles of yarn does Lapoli have?

EEE! that slime costume is adorable!!!

i think i ate too many weird things today, because my guts are killing me Sad

That means I have to sit here and knit my sweater and watch law and order... dang....

I did "sew" a dress out of a men's XL teeshirt and stencil a shirt for myself. The shirt says "ENORMOUS TYPOGRAPHY" a la all the trendy giant-type tees. I giggled to myself while I made it. I am such a typography nerd...
would anyone else like one?

Crumpet, I'm also sending good thoughts your way--I know companies are hiring, so I hope he has no problem finding a new job!

Atsuko, the answer is... a lot.   Wink

Gee, I would have guessed "a lot" too.  I might have even gone out on a limb and said "more than me".

I actually got to use my sewing machine the other night.  I really needed a new little zippered pouch thing to keep my lunch money in for work.  Does anyone else need one?  I was planning on making a couple for me and a couple for Elsbeth.  I have lots of cute cotton prints.

Crumpet -- Good thoughts being sent to you and your hubby.  I don't know much about the job market in your area, but remember that networking is the main way that most people find jobs -- keep your options open and talk to everyone.  You never know who might know of a job opening....

Thanks for the good thoughts everybody!   Smiley  He kind of knew it was coming so he already had his resume updated a couple of weeks ago.  Fortunately he's in finance so it's something that he can do in pretty much any field and I've already been told of a few companies in the area (Los Angeles) that might be hiring for him to check out.  Although it wasn't entirely unexpected, it sucks to be in that position - I'm just lucky that he's a positive kinda guy (and grateful that you're all such a positive group too!)

crumpet, the sleeves of cotton t-shirts make wonderful loops for those looms. So sorry to hear about your husband's job.  Even if it was expected, it's still a blow.

would anyone be willing to post a soap-making kit sometime?

Are you talking cold process soap-making kit??  If so, I can accommodate you. I'll need to get a plastic bottle to hold the olive oil.  It will have instructions and premeasured Olive Oil, Palm Kernel Oil, Lard, Shea Butter and sodium hydroxide.  All you'll need to add is water.  3 points.  No fragrance though ...

I changed the points on the Romney and the Corriedale Top to 4 oz for 3 pts.  I have a pound of each to swap.
