I just completed my first handmade journal and I'm so excited!!

I used stitch-binding and organic handmade papers on the cover.  I also made a tasseled page-marker

I plan on making some more in the future, but I want to use "fancy" paper on the inside instead of the plain white pages I used here.  I think I may add something else to the cover on this one, but I'm not sure what yet...  Let me know what you think of my journal.

I love the cover.  It is so elegant looking and just looks so nice I don't know if I could bring myself to write in it!

That is really pretty.  Where did you learn to do book binding or whatver you want to call it?  I brought home a bunch of scrap paper from work (Its mostly all good one side and the other side might have a line of gobbledygook printed on it near the top by the computer) to make some kind of a hand-made & stitched book.  Maybe one day I'll get to it.  I really envy this. do you have any in-prgress photos?

Very nice.  I love the paper you put on the front.  It looks elegant.  Well done.

You have done an awesome job on this, especially with it being your first binding job. Really amazing. I love it.

I used this link  http://forum.threadbanger.com/showthread.php?p=86258#post86258  as a guide to help me with the binding.  I'm on a budget, so I changed some of the materials (I used some card stock instead of foam-core board and regular sewing thread instead of linen thread for example).  I don't have any in progress photos, but I plan on making another journal soon, so I will try to do some then.  I really think you should try it and make one using your fabulous paper!!

Really liked your first attempt at book binding, may try and use the link you kindly have posted.

I am making some handmade paper today, I may use some of this to cover the book - lets see what it turns out like, using some egg boxes.  Made some with a friend, but have not found it that easy myself - as the paper keeps breaking up.  Still if I leave to dry in the sun then turn out all seems ok.

Maybe I will share my journal when I have completed.   Love the tassle and the elegant cover.  Great gift for a special person.
