I'm so happy with the way this turned out!  I used the "join as you go" method to put this together (check out sarah london textiles' flickr set with super clear step-by-step instructions for doing this).  My throw is 6 x 6 blocks, and I added a row of each color used in the squares for the border.  I still need to block it, but I'm not in a hurry!

I made the quilt a couple of years ago.  Love it, too!

It looks so well done!  I'll have to check out the join as you go method.  Thanks for the link!

I hit "this rocks" immediately. It is really lovely!
And you have given me hope to try putting my granny squares together using join-as-you-go. Thanks.

Thanks for the compliments Smiley  I can't wait to use it...too bad it is practically summer!

And you have given me hope to try putting my granny squares together using join-as-you-go.

Becky, go for it!  Before putting this together, I had just made a pillow cover to practice the method I linked to in my initial post.  It really is easy once you get the hang of it.  My initial mistake was this:  only on the corners do you do a chain stitch before you slip stitch to the appropriate place on the other blocks.  The sides you slip stitch then chain one.  The corners are chain one, slip stitch, chain one.  You'll know if you mess up because it will look weird and too loopy on the sides!  Oh and also remember to slip stitch your block to the block above it and beside it when you get to the corner.  The pictures in the flickr photo set show what this looks like.  I can't imagine wasting time sewing the blocks together one by one after doing it this way!

Very cool!  I like the bright colors.  And I'm very impressed that you finished!  LOL, my last blanket attempt is in a bag with the yarn still attatched, about 1/3 done.  Not enough instant gratification and I've been too stressed to worry with long projects these days.  Great job and thanks for the link!!
