For this swap you will create your own charm pack to send out. A charm pack is a group of coordinating fabrics that are 5 inches square. For this swap our charm packs will contain 40 pieces of fabric each. Participants will be placed into groups of 4, which means you will send out 3 identical charm packs.
Requirements for charm packs:
1. Fabric needs to measure 5 inches by 5 inches. Please measure carefully.
2. Fabrics must coordinate somehow, do not send a total mish-mash of fabrics. You may have a few fabrics from the same line that you want to supplement with others that go well with it, or you may just find fabrics in your stash that work well together
4. Try to send as many different fabrics as you can. You may have some repeats in the fabrics, but please send at least 30 different fabrics, and the maximum is 2 blocks of one fabric (so do not repeat more than 10 fabrics)
5. Some solids are ok, but please try to use as many prints as possible. No more than 5 solids total. Tone on tone counts as a print.
6. Fabric must be 100% cotton, and please use good quality fabric. we don’t want to receive $2 a yard wal-mart fabric here!
People may sign up for more than one group, but you must create different charm packs for each group. First time swappers may only sign up for one group. Before you sign up you need to figure out the theme for your charm packs for each group you are signing up for. I will have a question for colors/themes you really hate and I will do my best to not put you in a group with those, but no promises.
Please put some thought into creating your charm pack! Although this is a great swap for stash busting, you may need to buy some fabric to flesh out your charm pack, if you don’t have enough fabrics to work together, do not send fabrics that don’t match, go to the store! Try picking a few colors and working with different prints to create a pleasing combination, and make sure to include darks, lights, and mediums, as well as small scale and large scale prints.
This is from the discussion thread on ideas for creating your charm pack theme.
So, for instance, in my sign-up I might list that I could do a browns and greens charm pack, or a charm pack with leafy patterns, or a certain tone/hue/shade, ie all deep jewel tones? Each person could list what their stash could yield as far as different themes/colors, and people would be sorted into groups according what would give a good variety. If you have a pretty random stash, you could see what you have that would go together nicely...maybe you have lots of polka dot prints, and you could put those all together and then add in prints and solids that match the colors. Maybe a theme could be "girly" with some conversation fabric of high heels, various pink, purples, and reds, and cherry and hearts fabrics! You might want to check your stash, and then pick up a half dozen FQ's to add with what you have for some extra good variety!
Feedback:
Communication is very important to me. Please let me and your partner know when you send and when you receive. When you send out you need to pm both myself and your partner with your delivery confirmation numbers. You need to post in the thread after you sign-up and remember to hit that all important “replies to your posts” button, since I may put updates on the thread. This is a quick swap so I won’t expect people to check in or chat a lot on the thread, but please return pm’s from myself or your partner in a timely manner (a timely manner to me is 2 days or less). I get very upset when I hear from people that their partner is not returning their pm’s, so please be courteous and responsible! If you don’t follow these rules I will note it in your feedback.
