this is my first tattoo, i designed it, although i had the tattoo artist fix up a couple parts (cleaned up the wings and the lily mostly)

this was taken only a couple minutes after it was finished. and will likely still get color but i haven't decided for sure on that yet though.

That is a lovely tribute, and well executed. It is so great in the simplicity of black, but you could take copies of your design and make copies to try different colors.

thats what i've been thinking about. It'd probably be a yellow duck with orange beak and feet, a light to medium brown bear, a green bow (her fave color) a stargazer lily (one of her fave flowers) and something with a bit of color in the wings of the bear just to perk it up so its not just skin and shading, its to much to do just white, and would fade to easily

I redesigned mr.sweets4ever's 10-year old tattoo for him for our anniversary last month.  The original tattoo had faded and didn't quite compliment his physique present day.

The inking was done by the fabulous Katrina of Evolved Body Art!

Here's the before & after.  The before photo is from 2006 (not 2000 when he originally got it).

Here's part of my design process.  I create in Photoshop CS5.

Sweets4ever, that's a really great design and the tattoo artist executed it so well! Also compliments his physique, very nice.

Ok, I just found this thread and it is SO COOL.  Everyone's art is gorgeous!  So here is my contribution:

Designed by me (with execution by my best friend).  It's on my lower back (right side), and is a little less than 2 inches across and a little more than 2 inches tall.  I've had it for... wow, 7 years now!  This thread has got me thinking about getting another one, though....

Early this year, my cousin passed away. She was born with health problems and so much pain, and she amazed us all by even living to 30 years old. Not long after, i was talking to another cousin and we decided to get the girl cousins together and get matching tattoos. Because i'm the most crafty/artistically-inclined, it was decided i would design it. So, i did, but my cousin took it into the shop and the artist fixed it for us.

Our cousin loved animals and gardening, so it was down to ducks or flowers (and i kind of hate flowers). Ducks, it is!

This is the best picture of my duck, a few days after getting it done, so it's healing here:

Cousin ducks:

Turns out her favourite colors were green and purple. Mine is purple, the cousin who collaborated on the tattoos with me... hers is green, and my younger sister's is pink. I looove purple, but (like my spool tattoo) i didn't want my duck to be purple, i wanted to go with green. And similarly, my cousin loves green but wanted her duck to be purple instead. So, we did a little switcharoo. It worked out splendidly.

It took me a while to name him (i love naming everything), but eventually decided on Gordon Bombay, Coach for short. (Please tell you get that Mighty Ducks reference. If not, watch Mighty Ducks. Now.)

Side note: My little niece found out his name is Gordon, so when i see her, she says, "Gowdon? Wack wack." She loves him. Cheesy
