Ruffles coin purse, recycle!

Bored as I am somethimes, wanting to make something but not sure what, I was watching an episode of Grey´s Anatomy eating some chips and this thought came to my head: could I turn this chips bag into a coin purse mmmh… I trow the rest away, washed the envelope, and try to see if my sewing machine can sew on this plastic.

Sorprise! it does, but only with some fabric under it. I think this is a cool way to recycle chips bags. Now i just told my friends: if you eat chips save the envelope for me and I will make you something nice out of it, I got so obsesed about this that i also put a cardbox in the grocery store near my house to get people recycle their chips bags. We´ll see if it works.

Hi Jordyca,

Love the chip bag purse. If you get enough of them recycled you could make a couple shopping bags from them by sewing them all together. Great idea!

haha Aren't they awesome?  I've made several bags from chip bags.  They draw a lot of attention.  I didn't sew mine.  I used Duct Tape to line it and hold everything together.  They're very sturdy and with the duct tape, the bag isn't crinkly any more.

Thanks for the tip.. I will see if I can find colored duck tape, I think in Mexico we have only the silver type.. I don´t know I haven´t seen any colored type.

That's very cute.  If you add some clear vinyl to protect the chip bag, it'll last forever.

I love this idea! i am saving bags from large candy and cookie packages. There is so much color on the bags it would be a shame to waste them.

Thank you all!! I agree there is so mucho color on this bags, and we can help the planet, a bit. I just have to see how long does the color last, maybe with the use the color will fade.. So thanks, it´s a good idea to have some clear vinyl to protect the foil.

Very cute! Since it looks like you cut two separate pieces anyways, maybe you could use a front of a chips bag for the back of the coin purse too, then both sides would be colorful.

I was so inspired by your purse that I made one for my cousin for Christmas out of a Doritos bag!  It turned out awesome, although I think I used more duct tape than fabric!
