Thanks to the tute for the Rounder Roomier Bag (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=14604.0), I created this masterpiece.  The next one I will fix my mistakes as I thought of some good ideas as I went along.  But this is the final masterpiece.  Let me know what y'all think.  Smiley

Front view, purse closed with big black button, loop made using the lining material.  Burgundy, mustard, white stripes and burgundy lining.  I used the lining material to make round pieces to attach the handles to, instead of using wooden rings (didn't have any).

This is a view of the inside.  I added a pocket using the same striped pattern but going left to right instead of up and down.  The inside of the pocket is the lining material.

This is the final view.  I opened it up to show the pocket open as well.

Only bad thing is with whatever color thread I would have used, I would have shown up.  I didn't like that because when I sewed the handles on it showed every imperfection.  I'm going to add the handles on first next time without doing the loops and see how it goes.  Was also thinking of attaching the two handles at the top with another button or just sewing it at the beginning at well to make one big strap.  The next one will be for my mother in law and it will be bigger, using a Toile print.  She's so into antiques.

Any advice on how I could make the thread either blend in better with all those colors used or maybe some kind of embellishments to hide it?

They have clear thread. It's kind of plastic-like, but it holds well. They have a darker clear, for dark fabrics, and a lighter clear for light fabrics.

The stitch won't be completely invisible, but it'll be less obvious than the black.

But anyways, that's so cute! I love the big button.

Oh wow!  I was already loving the bag and THEN I saw the photo with your hand in it and realized that that is one BIG ASS button on a tiny little purse, which made me love it even more, what a wonderful contrast!  Great design work...

The bag is actually bigger than the original one posted but not by much.  Thanks for the good feedback.  Made me feel warm and fuzzy all over.

I had someone ask me the dimensions of this bag recently so if you're curious, here they are:

8" left to right
5" top to bottom
Handle is 12" long with knot tied
Button approx. 1 1/4" wide
Pocket is 4 1/2" wide X 3 1/2" high usable space

*All measurements were taken after bag was completed.
