Yesssss, LOVED IT!!!! I was so psyched to see that when it first started filming, its funny to see people's surprise that this music is loved all over the world.

Also recommended : Heavy Metal Baghdad, its a very touching documentary.

Hokey Smokey!! I go away for a few days and come back to a whole lota chattin on here! I'm going to be looking into some of the bands you guys have been talking about. I've never heard of some of them as I'm more of an 80's hair band kinda girl. Always open to learn about new bands though! Thanks for all the groups too look in to.

I have heard about Heavy Metal Baghdad! I should rent it.

Yeah! I saw global metal at North By North East last year and I was blown away - the theatre was packed!

Not so much hair metal for me either, though there is a fondness that creeps in sometimes when I hear it in shops and whatnot.

I've just come back from a week away and was impressed I was able to pick up this months Terrorizer mag from the airport. I love it but I can't find it anywhere out here so I usually have to get someone to send it me. It was an obscene price at €10, but totally worth it!

I just watched Global Metal a couple of weeks ago, during my break during a night shift at work.  You have to appreciate a man who integrated his love of metal with his education and turned it into his work.  I envy Sam Dunn.

It is a lot of fun! I had a media pass last year from my University`s paper and I went to all of the movie screenings. Sometimes there are free shows (Ted Leo and the Pharmacists played at Yonge and Dundas Square for free!) and there is usually a lot of local showcases.

NXNE doesn`t seem as much fun as SXSW though - I would love to go sometime.

BTW if you ever have the chance to go to a Dethklok (Metalocalypse) show then go! Best metal show I am EVER gone to.

OMG! I went to the Dethklok show in Philly and it was awesome! I was right up on the rail too. They are a cartoon and the put on a better show than most real bands.
