I got this pair of bermuda shorts last year for, like, $2. They were extremely ugly and unflattering, but I really liked the colors and pattern, so I got them with plans of simply cutting off the legs and turning them into short shorts. I never got around to doing it, and then a year passed, and a few days ago I rediscovered them and whipped up this skirt.

(The pictures are horrible, my room is messy, and my legs are fat, but please bear with me Cheesy)

It was way easier to make than I expected - the hardest part was actually ripping out the ridiculous amount of seams there was. I cut the shorts right above where the inside leg seams meet and turned that part into the top of the skirt, then made the bottom out of the legs of the shorts. There also used to be pockets, which I sadly had to sow down cause they stuck out and looked horrible.

Anyway, I don't think it looks too bad for my first start-to-finish article of clothing ever! What do you think?

It is very cute!  I wonder if I can do this with my daughter's out grown shorts and extra fabric to make the skirt...
