A friend is having a BBQ for her birthday/graduation. She is a fellow crocheter, so I wanted to make her a little something. (In addition to the real gift - a gift card to anthropologie)

I sort of winged this little zipper pouch. I would have lined it, but my sewing machine is in the shop and I didn't have enough time to hand sew.

Flower Detail with a shank button center:

The whole pouch. I don't think the sides are that uneven....though they look like it.

Zipper detail. I got the charms on ebay a while ago.

I'm happy with how this turned out. I will definately make other pieces that use a similar design.

How do you add a zipper to a crochet item without a lining? It looks super cute!

I pretty much winged it...

I sewed the zipper to the outside of the pouch. I had thread that matched pretty well and I made small stitches on the outside and larger ones inside.

After I had sewed it all around I put a thin layer of fabri-tac under the other parts of the zipper tape to make sure it was on securely. It seemed to work pretty well and the fabri-tac didn't gush out between the crochet stitches.
