I love this tute:  http://tinyhappy.typepad.com/tiny_happy/2006/06/shoulder_bag_tu.html

I have only recently gotten a sewing machine but it has been working over over over time!!

Here's my bag (material I picked up on an outreach to Mocambique, lining from an ol pair of pants my mother in law sent me that I didn't like):

I love the way you cut the fabric so the pattern reflects!!  Very nice print!

I love that tute, too!  I've used it more than once.

Ok, don't laugh, but that fabric lining up was completely accidental.  When I was finished the bag and taking photos I noticed it.  I have NO idea how it happened......  Smiley

I read your post earlier and decided I wanted to try this bag.  I really love the whole thing up until the sewing of the straps together.  That was pretty difficult for me.  Maybe after I make it a few times I will get the hang of it.  Anyway, I love yours.  The fabric is wonderful.  Great job  Grin

Yeh, the straps weren't the easiest part, but I love that you can make it your own and adjust the pattern.  I think next time I try it I will make it bigger and use a heavier fabric like upholstery fabric like Tiny Happy uses. And make the straps wider...  That will make sewing them together easier.  Hope you post pictures of your bag.....  Smiley

I will post pictures of mine once I find a button for it.  I love that you can make it your own also.  I already have plans to switch it up for the next one.    Cheesy

it's material I got from Mocambique a couple years ago.  it hung in my kitchen as a makeshift curtain for years (before I was familiar with a sewing machine)

I've used this tute 3 or 4 times.  One I enlarged & I love it.  My favorite is the one I lined with quilted fabric.  It holds it's shape great.  You are doing great for a new sewer.  Congratulations!
