This is a cute toddler backpack that I made for our friend Joshua's first birthday.  He's probably a little too little to wear it, but I figured that he'll be ready to stuff it full of cars and dinosaurs soon enough.  I found the pattern on Indie Tutes here: http://indietutes.blogspot.com/2009/10/toddler-backpack-pattern.html.  It is a free pattern (although she does take donations, if you are so inclined).  I liked it because it doesn't have a zipper, which is something that requires finer motor skills than most one-year-olds have.  I did use a tiny piece of velcro to keep it shut, though, but most toddlers can manage that.  The stuffed toy is from IKEA.  Love IKEA kids' stuff!

Aw! That is adorable! Way better than mine.

It is better to have crafted and failed then never to have crafted at all.
Yes, I am stalking the Toys and Playthings board. Thanks for noticing!
I'm cheating on Craftster with Pinterest. It's ok though. There's overlap.

this is so great!!! I am starting to hunt for crafts for my little one year old.  I guess as soon as he starts walking then he can use a backpack!

so cute! I love her pattern, I used it to make 4 bags at christmas time, and not only did my nieces love them but my friends want some! With just a few strap mods, we are working on it.

They are the perfect size for toddlers, plus you can make them to fit their personalities!

I was looking at this pattern just last night...but I love seeing it with the different fabrics all patched together. I am definitely going to do this for my little guy.
