I have no idea what this thing is:

(it also opens like this)

but I knew when I saw it that I wanted to make something with it so after spending a dollar and attaching some beads, I made a wierd garden jellyfish-looking thing!

if anyone can tell me what that silver thing is, i'd appreciate it! lol I'd also appreciate comments or criticism!

I think its some sort of vegetable steamer. But I like this use of it so much better. Very cool. It looks right at home in your garden.

Isn't that a collapsible steamer basket?

It is a steamer basket!  Thanks for sharing this idea.  I actually have one that has a leg missing and need something to do with it.  It looks cute and quirky as a garden decoration.

thanks yall for telling me what in the world that thing is! lol I honestly had no clue! I couldn't decide if I wanted to leave it open and attach beads in the open part, but I decided it looked like a jelly fish this way so I left it! I'm glad yall like it!

This is a much better use for these steamer baskets... I avoid using mine at all costs because it's such a pain to clean (especially if you steam broccoli), it just doesn't fit in the dishwasher right and is very awkward to hand wash with all those slats!

I agree with everyone else- This is definitely a collapsible vegetable steamer basket.  You saw a garden jellyfish, but I see a UFO with beaded clouds of steam!  Very creative.

I love this! I want to go home & make one out of our vegetable steamer. I have never really gotten how to use it properly & it is a PAIN to clean! Thank god for steamer bags, soooo much better. I like your use for it, and i think it would look kinda cool open too. way to go!
