Ok, we got this lamp from a thrift store for $8.
Our problem is, our house doesn't have electrical wiring in the ceilings, so we have to plug everything in. My husband rewired the lamp to do that. We took it all apart, spray painted it white, and I etched butterflies on the glass. Voila! Pretty good, for a total cost of about $15!

Wow, this came out great! What stencils did you use?

They're called Rub 'n etch. They are rub on transfers, then you put on the glass etching cream. When you rinse it off, the stencil comes off too. I don't know if I will use them again, though. When I bought them, I didn't realize they were one use. You can make your own out of contact paper-just trace your design on the paper and cut out!

that's a really impressive transformation!
very few people have the vision to see what something "could be", while others just walk past it without a second thought.
