i did get a mini $10 iron at joann fabrics (make sure it has no holes in it) later in my adventures but only to flatten things. i don't get as excited about the style of using the iron to paint with. i really like using the paintbrushes instead. by the way, make sure your paintbrushes are natural fibers b/c synthetics can melt. i got great deals on cheapie natural brushes at walmart and ikea (of all places!).
keep the questions coming -- i don't mind at all!

p.s. some people use empty cat food tins to put the paint in.

You know I thought of cat food cans but didn't say it.   Grin You can even get those nifty plastic covers for them too.

And I do have one of those little irons already from Jo Ann's. 

Geez, methink I should just shut up about it and git 'r done, huh?

Sounds like I just about got everything I need.  I'll look into ordering some resin tonight.

I really like your use of text in your pieces.  Very interesting. 

I'm thinking about all sorts of mixed media type things I could add to encaustic....
