I made this dress to wear to my brother's graduation this weekend:

It was very quick and easy, though I was a little disappointed with how shapeless the skirt turned out:

Would you agree it does not look like this in the pattern?

It's the first time I used a Project Runway pattern, and I liked all the embellishment options, though I just kept it simple. Here I am as a wallflower:

The dress might be this shape on me because I am a bit disproportionate in my top half. No matter. Nothing a snazzy belt can't fix. Shazaam!

I love the little puff sleeves:

Ah, darts. A bosom's best friend. And a close up of the fabric, from grandma's stash, as is all my good stuff.

Oh yeah, and poster's in my living room are totally appropriate to include in this post, because guess what my brother is graduating with? A Masters... in Musicology.

Thanks for looking!

It doesn't quite look like the pattern does it, I always fall for that trick, but the belt definately solves any shape issues, it looks great. I love the little sleeves as well, well done Smiley

It does look a little like the drawn picture on the far left at the bottom, but I agree it doesn't look like their model picture.  Perhaps it's the fabric (they had some extra clingy fabric that they used to make the pattern so it looks like it skims the body better than it would otherwise).  Perhaps they had static cling on the photoshoot so it looked  less like a trapeze dress?  Perhaps they cheated and used clips in the back to take out some of the fullness?

I do think your version looks good with the belt, though!

Looks adorable with the belt, and without, really. I have the same body disproportion challenge, but this dress looks really nice. I should look into this pattern. :]

oh this dress is darling!  i love the sleeves too and you totally rocked it with added the belt!  i saw that pattern and really wanted to try it but the pattern did not call for using cotton fabric and since I'm a noob I was hesitant to get the pattern and do it with cotton anyway.

great job!
