I've gone through like 5 gluesticks this week...

When I find a new easy craft activity, and I like the results, I go on a huge kick and do that craft non-stop for about a week. At that point, I think, I have way too much of this stuff, so I had better stop. I love writing letters and have been looking for a multi-pack of different colored envelopes for a while now. An epiphany happened! I can just make them myself (just unfold an existing envelope to lay flat and trace it as a template. cut out, fold and gluestick...VOILA!). The first day, I used magazine pages, but found the end results to be too flimsy. Paper stacks can be so expensive! So I went to a yard sale and bought like 10-15 picture or kids books that were in really crappy shape for 20 cents each.

I now have an unreasonable amount of envelopes (I think almost 300) I'll try to only post the coolest... They are all cool though.

Whew, that was a lot of pictures of a lot of envelopes. So now I need more pen pals, I guess.

What a great re-use of damaged books!  I love the black and white envelopes.

This is crazy cool!  I love them.  I recognize the story of the little house that the city builds itself around.

I know, I know. I had a hard time ripping them up, too. After the first couple, it wasn't too hard. A lot of the ones I got were literally falling apart, covers torn off, water damaged, etc. It was pretty plain that they had been thoroughly loved and were ready to make someone happy in at least one more different way before they hit the landfills!

Whoever is getting these with letters inside is so lucky! I love these a lot. Love the Rainbow Brite ones. I usually make my own envelopes to fit the cards I make but I never thought of this! Awesome.
