Amber Sweet Zydrate Anatomy Bra

This is a costume piece for my Amber Sweet Zydrate Anatomy costume. The original bra runs in the neighborhood of US$295 which I thought was, quite frankly, ridiculous. Instead, I ordered 10 gross of 4mm economy hotfix glass rhinestones (from http://shop.dazzlemonkey.com) and picked up a bra from the Bay (I had a coupon AND it was on sale, yay!!). It turns out that the process is both tedious (which I expected) but also incredibly delicate. The bra’s fabric, which I’d say is more or less standard fare for a bra, melts instantly from the heat of the application tool and my poor bra looked a little mangled from inevitable slips. Luckily the bling pretty much completely masks the burn marks, but I have to say I have a lot more respect for the vendors of the original bra now that I see how finicky the process is. I chose not to completely encrust the cups with rhinestones like the original - I initially feared I’d run out and had planned to go back and fill it in at the end but I decided I actually prefer the look of this. I have a little over half of the rhinestone order left over, too! A lot of the bra gets covered up by other costume pieces, but I’m still pretty proud of this piece. A lot of hours watching Lost were passed while working on it.

WOW!  This is definitely a project that would send me to the psychiatric ward!  The rhinestone placement looks so precise - awesome job!!!!!

This is fantastic! I saw the thumbnail and thought, "Oh, that looks like Amber Sweet's bra." Had to click after that, naturally! Are you part of a shadowcast? Our Amber would love this. We're still working on her bra, bit by bit.

I've actually been invited into a shadow cast. I've never actually seen one live before (our town's RHPS shadow cast died out years before I moved here) so i'm not exactly sure what it would be like. I might be more interested in getting in on the costuming aspect of it than actually performing though

For how long the bra took... lessee. I did one cup per evening, probably 3 hours each. I was being pretty anal about spacing though, and then there was the trouble with the fabric melting if i slipped. A tip for anyone who wants to try this: lay out 4-5 rhinestones at a time in a line and then use the tool to set them. that way you make sure your spacing is even and the curve of the line is smooth.
