I finally got the other pieces finished - and in time too! This is the second stumpwork (after the heart one) and is also inspired by classic tattoos:

Beautiful. I love how all the edges are finished Smiley
Did you make the barbwire? What wire and gauge did you use?

Oh wow! It's got that perfect blend of tough girly girl-ness that I like!

The flower looks so delicate. I'm so in love with it.

Thanks everyone!

Marie-lynn: the edges almost drove me to distraction Cheesy I couched wire down onto fabric in a hoop, then really couched it down, covering all of the wire. Working with only two  strands of thread it took an age (it would have been a smoother, less bulky finish if I'd used only one but I was working on a time limit!).

The barbed wire is 0.8mm steel wire. I had made the barbs individually around needle nosed pliers and then glued them onto the main wire. I tried all manner of twisting the wire together to avoid glueing, but just couldn't get the turns tight and neat enough at that size.

Holy crap that's fantastic!  You have turned stumpwork on its hairy old ear!

It's "I'd pay really good money for that" beautiful.

Beautiful rose!

However, I personally think it would be better if the frame size could be a little smaller. Smiley
