Are they covered by Mod Podge? Or other varnish?

I have two obsessions decopage and shoes-so impressed.
I have not used Modgepodge-does it flex or is hard like varnish?
What can you use ti for/

These are completely amazing looking!
But I was wondering, have you worn them since you finished them? And if so do you find they hold up well to the wear and tear that shoes tend to get?
