thanks folks  Smiley

Is a differential feed how you get a lettuce edge? How do you set it up? I think I've used it only to makes gathered strips...

my differential feed gathers when I turn the number up and spreads when I turn it negative.  I actually prefer to use my regular machine with a zig zag stitch for a lettuce edge, but that is often too time consuming.

Is that a grasshopper hat on your sweet munchkin?
It is, but it's a commercial one picked up at a thrift store somewhere along the way.  My kids have a dozen or so of this style, some I've made, some boughten, because, well, they are just the cutest damn things, yes?
