It took NINE years but Courthouse Lady is done. Finally. Whew.

I started a new quilt in 2000. It was supposed to be for my friend's baby but halfway through, I found out she wasn't having a girl after all so I put it down and whipped up a boy quilt in record time. And this girly quilt languished. It's lived, unfinished, in two countries, two states, and a total of five different houses. I don't know why it's taken me so long to finish it. It's the easiest pattern, stitch-in-the-ditch quilted, and could have been done in one weekend if I ever bothered to get around to it.

I had my Mother's Day weekend to myself since the guys went to my MIL's Saturday. It was finally time to get around to it. By the time they got home Sunday afternoon, I had the binding made and ready to sew on. When I picked it back up last night after the kids went to bed, I got 1/4 of the way around the binding and I ran out of thread. There is no place here to buy Parrot Blue at 9 pm on a Sunday. But I hit the store at lunch yesterday and cut out of work at 4 to finish it. It's DONE! I have pictures of the quilt top at my flickr but every time I look at them, I feel guilty because I think it's cheating to take pics before a quilt is totally done. I've got it washed now and I have some guilt-free pics of the finished quilt.

My New Year's resolution was to finish all the unfinished quilts in my closet. That's one down, five to go. I need to pick up the pace.

Thanks!  It's the girliest quilt I've ever made since I have only boys and my niece is more into purple than pink.  I think I'm going to keep it since I figure all the boys in my house won't fight me for this pink quilt like they do with the less pinky and flowery ones they're used to seeing out.

Your tenacity paid off.  This quilt looks soft and feminine.  Surely, that will keep the boys away!  I wish I could leave work early to do crafts.
