Hey! Finally finished this 63 square sampler and gave it to my Pops for his birthday.

It is really big - definitely the biggest project I've ever completed. I really liked working on it because it's so portable. And awesome for those of us with craft ADD.

I did make one tiny change in the project - obviously I only used 1 color where they recommend 3, so I ended up not having different colored borders between the blocks. Which is fine. I also changed the border around the entire thing to double crochet - a little more manly than what was suggested by the pattern.

A suggestion for anyone working on this project - check your gauge often, or modify the patterns so that your squares end up all the same size. Working the patterns as specified often did not leave me with equally sized squares and my blanket has a bit of topography.

Very pretty! Is this from a book or somewhere online?

This is so lovely. I love the one-color scheme. It is beautiful. What a special gift!

Hey! Thank you! He wasn't as excited to receive it as I would have liked, but hey - it's made of yarn and he's not really a handicraft kinda guy. I know he likes it deep down Smiley

It's all from a book - "63 Easy-to-Crochet Pattern Stitches". Here's an Amazon link - http://www.amazon.com/Easy-Crochet-Pattern-Stitches-Leisure/dp/1574866346

And there was actually a Crochet-a-Long started for thiss project, but I think it has long since died out - http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=204168.0

What a classic! I have a kind of morbid fascination for white samplers - I like them, but I'd so hate to make one Smiley Smiley That's what makes them twice as impressive to me, I guess Smiley Congratulations for your patience and skills on this one.

Wow thats amazing Smiley  Maybe thats what I need to do, I'll be more likely to finish an afghan if I do it in smaller bits.

i know!!! i have made a few blankets myself now, my favourite kind are made up of separate bits then sewn together.. 12" squares are awesome!!! cos they're quite large... so u dont need too many to get a good size.. and 12" is just about the limit on doing rounds before they start to get too big!!! U should join in the 12" square CAL on here!
