So I was so tickled with this Bantha stuffie pattern:
http://www.starwars.com/kids/do/crafts/f20081124.html

That I decided to make one for a friend's birthday--he's the geekiest close friend i have, and seemed the only one who might really appreciate such a gift Smiley.  For those of you who don't know, Banthas are great big, oxen-like animals that inhabit the star wars universe, specifically on a desert planet.

I made some adjustments to the pattern, including curling the horns (as in true bantha-fashion) and making a riding blanket, reins, and waterskins for the sandpeople.  i used felt, and for his fur i used a light brown sherpa fur that i 'dirtied up' with a black crayon

so here's my little Bantha:

He's very playful, but the cat wasn't interested:

Later that evening I found him snuggled up under the blankets:

Being a bantha and all, he definitely prefers the outdoors:

Playing in the flowers:

How'd he get up there?

And always with his Sandperson:

I was a little sad to see him go, but he's got a good new home now Smiley

Hey thanks!

and yes, he does look a little grumpy--but i've never seen a bantha that smiled, and turning up his mouth at the corners just made him look goofy (as if the googly eyes didn't make him look goofy anyways  Cheesy)

Your bantha is absolutely brilliant - his expression amuses me to no end. Cheesy Also, the photographs of him are wonderful, they really made my day (he looks so sad looking out from behind the tree in the last picture, though).

I must say, by the way, I think he looks better than the one on StarWars.com! Great work. Smiley
