I have been planning on making some new summer dresses for my little one and since she is almost two (and very opinionated), I thought that she would like to pick out her own fabric. I showed her an abundance of florals and such, but the kitty fabric caught her eye and it was over from there.

I used vegbee's peasant shirt tute and modified it for the dress: http://indietutes.blogspot.com/2007/07/peasant-blouse.html

Here is a close-up of the fabric:

I found it at goodwill and needed to have it (lol)

Here is the ever important action shot:

*she is a ham*

Thanks for looking!

OMG that is adorable. I used to have that fabric, but never really an idea what to make with it. I ended up giving it to someone. I figured I wanted it to have "life" instead of sadly staying in my stash trunk.

She looks so adorable.^_^

I could have written the same about my daughter, I think she would have picked out that material too...same age.  Anyway, cute dress!  I love peasant dresses with my active little girl.  So easy to  get on and off when she's wiggling all over.

I had a jacket made out of this SAME material when I was  Huh years old. My grandma asked me the same questions...pick out a fabric and a pattern to make.  Thanks for the memory trip!

two years old and opinionated?!  No way!

You've done well with the fabric.   I have a stash of fabric chosen by my monkey that I just couldn't figure out what to do with - maybe I should do a little stash busting for her summer clothes.  Thanks for the inspiration!

This is the best use of kitty fabric I've ever seen!! She has an eye for fashion! It's much better than on a lady's sweater (hehe)! She looks adorable in her new dress!!

My 2yr old daughter would crawl over hot coals for a kitty dress like that!!

Is the fabric a heavy cotton? Or is it more like sheeting? I REALLY need to make a VegBee peasant dress and your post has re-inspired me!

It is not too heavy, just like a regular broadcloth weight. She loved it at first, but since she is two, and so full of opinions, she doesn't want to wear it now... she only wears shorts and tee shirts now... maybe that's what I get for letting her pick her own clothes... power struggles= not worth my time.
