I did it! It was challenging with the piping and all the layers but, worth it.

It looks wonderful!  I love how you matched up the pattern.  I really need to pick up this pattern Smiley

I can't believe you matched the fabric pattern! That is super ambitious and it paid off big time. I have her messenger bag pattern and it turns out  great every time. But it IS tons of work, thank goodness her instructions are clear or I would have burned the da** pattern.

Beautiful!  I'm totally jealous.  I keep saying I'm going to make one . . . have I??  Hmmmm . . . well, at least I can still enjoy looking at other people's bags!  Great work!

That's a great looking bag.  Nice craftsmanship!

I love seeing everybody's Weekender bags and you all do such a great job.  I wish I had the patience to make one of these, but I don't...

That really looks fantastic! The way you matched up the fabric is terrific and the blue details like handles and piping really set it off!

I never mess with piping, maybe I should start it looks REALLY good!

Thanks everyone!

That was my first go at piping. It wasn't too hard. Just trying to get the stitch line closer every time around was hard.

They make special feet for sewing piping.  Do you have one of those?

Okay so once again I am completely redoing my pictures. Got tired of photobucket, the only reason I used it was for here so I decided I will just use Craftster's photo uploader. So while I am switching over my photo links will be broken. Message me if there is a post you would like the pics for.

Cheesy I meant to say it wasn't too hard not, it was. Freudian slip though? LOL Making it wasn't hard it was putting it in and not have stitches show from the outside that was the hard part. I used my zipper foot which is what is called for in the pattern. I haven't done a lot of sewing so I don't have any extras. I have since read someone suggested using a welt (or welting) foot for it. I may have to look for one of those.

You've got one over on Vera Bradley. So lovely. I love the colors you chose. I'm envious as I would love to be able to sew something like your together. Alas my sewing skills are quite poor. Hope to see some more!

I'm a newbie round here and have been wanting to make a weekender bag for a while. This type seems the kind of shape I'm looking for, could anyone direct me to where I could buy the pattern? Thanks!

And your bag is gorgeous!

Amy Butler's site has a list of places you can buy this pattern (or other patterns, or fabric, etc).
The cheapest I found was from this ebay seller. Specific listing here.

I got mine at a local shop. I was to anxious to wait for shipping time. Cool I am heading back there this week. Trying to decide what I want to try to do next.
