It's square with wooden slots dividing it up so it looks like a tic-tac-toe board with a glass cover underneath. It's oh so retro and only cost me a buck (I'm sure they would have dumped it if no one at the auction bought it).
Any thoughts?

Have you got a picture.

On Decorating Cents they took the blades off and fanned them out mounted to a base for a screen in front of a fireplace spraypainted with faux stone texture paint.

Salvage light parts to make lamps.

I need to see the base before I can think of what to do with it. LOL

Yeah, as I was posting I thought it would be much clearer if I had a photo, so here it is...

i think it's great!  has an effect like a rice paper screen.
the more obvious thing would be to make a different translucent picture in each square, but you might take it apart and make one big one and then put it back together.

Coloured Christmas lights underneath would make for a rad mini-dance-floor-like wall light!  Cheesy

I would use that for a tracing light, for patterns etc. Taking the grids off.

I thought at first you meant a ceiling fan. Oops

You could probably repair that grid by gluing it back on, and using it for a translucent frame if the light isn't that high voltage. But that definitely is a score. I have a black light fluorescent bulb that might fit in there. See if you can find one, talk about mood setting.

Take the liner stuff, give a good cleaning and maybe lightly paint some psychedelic stuff on there and neon spray paint all the wood parts. Guess you can tell I'm reminiscing here.
