I threw this sugar/creamer/tray set for an assignment for my ceramics class. It's stoneware, fired to cone 10, glazed with a color called Tender Lavender. The tray was two small circular ones, thrown, and then I cut off the ends and attached them together before I fluted it. I'm pretty happy with how this set came out!

You should be happy with the set!  If I actually used sugar and creamer, I'd love to have one like it.  I like the unique shape and simplicity of the tray.

Thanks guys! It's funny you mention that, gremlin, because before I got into ceramics, I never used sugar or cream in my tea. But then a very talented friend made me a very lovely tea set, and I couldn't bear not to use the sweet little sugar bowl and creamer thing she made me, so I started using them. And now I'm hooked! I drink my tea like a total pansy now Tongue

Love it! So adorable and nicely crafted.  Reminds me that I want to take a ceramics class.

beautiful as those are, I'm with grammar_gremlin. we don't use either sugar, milk, or cream in our hot beverages, but seeing these adorable things (and i looooove the colour!) almost makes me want to.

i'm so impressed!  i've always had trouble with sugar and creamer sets, they've never turned out "right".  these are fabulous!  i especially like the tray idea and the pattern you have along the top of it.  how did you get the grains in the pot, are they just carved?

Thanks everyone! ksquared, I just used a wooden rib tool to drag lines up the pots after they were hard enough to pick up and handle safely. I'm surprised they turned out as even as they did, although there are mistakes!

oh WOW! They are GORGEOUS!

And I'm jealous! I love pottery and ceramics, but have no place to do it. No room and not enough cash for a kiln.

But I can dream and live vicariously through some seriously talented potters on this site!

About two months of pretty intensive time on the wheel. It really isn't as hard as they make it out to be Smiley Good luck with your class! It's tons of fun!

Thanks Hippie9! Just stick with it!

And Tuchen, I hear you--now that I've graduated, I can't do it anymore either Sad No kiln, no wheel, no space.
