Hey All!

I've been a lurker for quite some time and decided that since I got my sewing bug back that maybe I should post something to show for it.   Cheesy  I used New Look pattern 6578.  I made these for my 3 month old who is so tall she looks like a nine month old!  Come to find out, my 3 year old could almost wear these as shirts, so I'm going to make her some too, but sizing the pattern up.

Thanks for looking!
Comment and criticism always welcome.

ETA: So my oldest decided that the first polka dot dress (shirt for her) was the one she wanted.  So it's hers now, hehe.

We had fun with our little fashion show.  We have decided that it's something we should do more often.   Wink

These are so cute! It's nice that you can kind of use the same pattern for two kids =)

I love that bird and butterfly fabric!

Adore the fabric on the 2nd one. These button rompers are so cute and practical and they fit forever. My daughter is  still wearing some that were 6-9 months at almost two but now they are swing tops!

Those are super cute. I love that bird fabric - any idea what it's called? We have a small obsession with birds around here.

Thanks everyone for the sweet comments!   Cheesy

The fabric is called "Sweet Tweets" By Janet Gossard

I found it at Joanns here in Florida, near wear they have like their "Tootie Fruity" fabrics for the kids.

My oldest loves the polka dots.  I am going to have to run back to walmart for that fabric because it has to be in the blue, lol.

I love the blue and brown one - the hearts are so cute!

What pattern did you use and where can I find it? This looks simple enough that maybe I can do it, and I'd love to make something for my niece. The fact that it can be used for multiple ages is awesome!

But we have flamethrowers. And what this indicates to me, it means that at some point, some person said to himself, "Gee, I sure would like to set those people on fire over there. But I'm way too far away to get the job done. If only I had something that would throw flame on them."

I love this pattern.  I bought mine from the Simplicity website, but I'm more than sure you would be able to find it in your local sewing/crafting store.

Thank you! Yea, the pattern shows 3 appliques on each dress, but I thought that was a little much, as big as they were.

I found this pattern to be very easy to follow.  It's been awhile for me also, jumping back on the sewing wagon but I think they turned out pretty good.

A hint that I use...don't cut your pattern out.  Instead, buy freezer paper (I can't live without it!) or pattern tracing paper (can get expensive) and use a sharpie or marker to just trace out the pattern pieces for the size you need.  This way, when your daughter out grows the size, you can always make more with the different sizes.  I like freezer paper because on one side it's like paper, but on the other side it has a plastic coat.  With this, you can just iron your pattern pieces right onto your fabric and cut away.  They are much sturdier than the tissue pattern paper too! Good luck!  I cant wait to see them!

Wow that's a great idea with the freezer paper.  I've traced onto tissue paper and such, but it all falls apart and I end up buying another pattern anyhow.  Yay, another use for my HUGE roll of freezer paper!!

oh wow! thanks for the tips! Unfortunately I'd already cut out the pattern (in the largest size and folded over the other sizes, if that makes sense) but will use the freezer paper trick for SURE next time.
