I love Roses.
I make most anything I lay my hands on to into a rose at some time or another.
Jeans, baby socks, paper towels from the public rest room. I blame my mom. She owned a flower shop when I was little and so I love this flower. I love why it symbolizes love. Because Love lives forever in the eyes of the rose who's life is not long lived. I have searched the internet over on ways to make roses out of many different things. There are a few, but there were none on how to make a rose from a plastic egg.
So I was on my own. Here are the finished roses and here is how I did it.

1st I boiled the eggs I used 2 colored eggs and one half of a green egg for each rose.

then I pulled them out of the water with a slotted spoon put them on a towel each time to get the boiling water off then I cut them I could make all the V cuts then had to put them back in the water then pulled them again to make the bottom of the petal cuts (the round cuts)

the center 2 petal egg pieces are made out of the egg bottoms and they have 4 petals each.
they will be squeezed as shown below to shape them
I taped the inside petals while they were cooling in the tight curved shape.
then removed the tape when I was putting them on the wire

the 2 outer rose pieces are made from the top of the eggs. They have three petals

the bottom of the egg is made from a green egg half either top or bottom of the egg will do.

I used a left over piece of copper wire from when the electrician installed a new outlet and breaker at my house but you can use thick floral wire.

Then I had lunch. sorry but It was lunch time and I was hungry and this was a very important step for me.

I added the bend in the outer petals then let them cool and then added them to the wire

I then added the green bottom piece

I twisted the copper wire

and then floral taped the wire.
Here is a photo of the parts apart

here is my first one with the battery operated etcher that I used to sand the petal edges

Here is one one my son made along with me, And every rose should come from a handsome guy right?

and here is one of them on my upcycled purse turned into a pin.
Finally a rose that will live as long as the love of my life.

Those are surprisingly realistic!  In shape I mean...  I would have never thought of boiling the eggs to bend them to my will! (Muahahahaaaaaa..)  And I actually have worked with a plastic that was meant to warmed this way and then molded before it cooled!  This is really clever!  Great tute btw!

Those are great! I love the red one especially!
Hmmm... I believe I have some spiderman eggs that are perfectly suited to this purpose.

The red one came with pop rocks in them My daughter was very happy to get the candy in her Basket. they were the only red ones I could find that weren't Spiderman But If it wouldn't have been against my moral code to reuse eggs I would have bought the Spiderman eggs and sanded the Spidy stuff off them. Plus the ones I saw opened on from top to bottom not around the middle. The rest of the eggs I got at thrift store.
and I did fill them for Easter for my daughter. I saw camo eggs and thought those would have been perfect for a red neck wedding rose. although It would be easier to make them from camo material. funny either way.

Thank you to all the people who have complimented me.
I have so many ideas but I still haven't figured out how they can make me rich.
oh well I guess I still need to go to work.
Thanks for looking.
I have enjoyed making these more then other things, because My kids both decided they wanted to make one too, after they saw the first one. So I got to work with each of them making roses over and over again and that was great.
I also didn't need to go shopping for my mom this year for mothers day too. Bonus! LOL. She loves putting stuff the kids and I make her on her work station at the nursing home. You never out grow loving your mommies praise and adoration.  Grin
