Yes, don't let your desire to swap be hindered by your location! Unless you're in, say, a combat zone or refugee camp...That goes without saying, of course...But cards created while traveling internationally would be extra cool. Or if you don't want to take any supplies with you, keep a journal and take notes and sketches of what you encounter along the way, and later on you can make cards based on your vacation, when you have your supplies accessible again.

Actualy, there is no reason not to do it even if you are in a combat zone! My DH is in the army and he is always sending me arts when he is down range. I also have an MP friend who crocheted when she was deployed to keep herself busy.  Smiley Cheesy Smiley

vinnie - that is awesome! i think there's a drive to create throughout humanity, and it can be a mental survival mechanism. A collection of your husband's artwork from the time he's stationed overseas is going to be such a family heirloom.
...i just meant that if someone were paying a visit to a place where there is dire poverty/disaster/conflict, when they aren't accustomed to it, their highest priorities would probably not include Craftster swaps.  Smiley
Have you had any problems with getting mail to and from him when he's not in an established base? I've wondered about the reliability of mail services in international crisis situations. Which is kind of a strange thing to focus on, I guess.

Are the fabric ones regulation size? Are the rules different--I am fairly new to the ATC medium...I was lucky to have someone send me those sleeves, so my goal is to fit them into the sleeve unless my partner says it is ok to go outside of it  Grin

They are very interesting pieces...not sure if I want to be in your head as you go through the processs... Cheesy...I already have enough disturbing thoughts in my own brain! ha ha

yes, the fabric ones are regulation size.  if I remember correctly, the same rules apply.  you need to use a piece of cardboard as the base, but you just cover it with fabric and sew/glue things to it.  or even do some embroidery.  whatever floats your boat.  Smiley

and if anyone else chooses to look at the fabric ATCs I made, please, do not be offended by the one card.  there was never any harm meant by my design because I do my homework on these things before making them permanent.  just like devil worshippers screwed thigs up for the Pagans, the Nazis screwed things up for Buddhist/Hindu followers.

here's what my partner had to say: clicky.

You would make a horrible criminal because you confess too much! Wink

They were lovely and insightful ATCs and that is all I have to say...

I know.  that's why I don't do major crime.  just little things (a shirt going to the incinerator doesn't REALLY need those extra buttons that come with it does it?)  Tongue

well, it's just that I thought about that ATC after posting a link to it.  I know it's not really bad, it's just seen that way because of someone else.  way to go Hitler.

I just don't want people thinking I'm evil and insensitive and stuff.  that would suck.  Sad
