I made this purse following the directions for the "Pleated Beauty Handbag" from bend-the-rules Sewing
by Amy Karol. I, of course, managed to pick the most complicated project
Somehow I bungled my way thru (with no pinning till the very end!) and came out with this:
Close up of quilted applique fruit:
Interior of bag with my junk in it:
Back side of bag:
This bag is HUGE. I can carry two large hard back novels in it. Which is perfect for me.
I changed a few things from the directions: I added two pockets, instead of one. I also made my straps differently. They are longer, wider and are a solid color. I basically made my own heavy bias tape to make the handles. I plan on making more in the future! Great practice with pleating, and I think the next one I will attempt the scary thing: A zipper!
I do recommend this book. It has nice clear directions and a lot of wonderful how-to's and sewing techniques explained.
Critique and questions welcomed.
