here are my instructions & i hope these instuctions don't confuse anyone!

1. pick out a sheet of paper like a map or two sheets of betty and veronica comics (which you have to tape together in the middle) &
which by the way is perfect for this method.
when i first started out i did a rough copy to practice.

rough copy:

so i think you could start a practice wallet. you cut it down to size so you can fold the paper hot dog style. when you fold it hot dog style then fold it in half. take a look at it and see if you think it's too large and trim it down

2. but for a real wallet that's nice you can use the practice wallet as a template. you can get another sheet of paper and measure it from the template and cut it out. then tape it front and back&fold it hot dog style & tape the sides.
oh and when you make a nice wallet don't fold it before taping. it's easier for the tape to wrinkle which is why you should do a template.

3. to make a pocket...that's a little more tricky to explain...ok, you get a credit card or library card and figure out how wide & how long the pocket should be. test it out by folding the paper so that the cards fit nicely in the pocket. i reccomend using a flap in the pocket but maybe it's not needed. then tape it front and back. fold the pocket and then tape the inside except for the flap so it's nicely attached to the wallet. and then you tape the outside which makes the pocket hold.

whoops sorry!  the instructions are from:
http://www.craftster.org/yabbse/index.php?board=42;action=display;threadid=1318

i used this product called magic cover to cover up both sides of the wallet instead of packing tape which works better since if you mess up, you can still take the magic cover off and a put it on again.  i'm lazy and don't want to sew!

here's a link for it:

I think you should cover the maps (or whatever paper you are using to make these things) in clear tape.  Maybe that will make them last longer.  My sister and I used to make wallets and purses like that when we were little.
