I HAVE to make one of these!!! they look fantastic!
What type of fabric did you use? seems like some sort of jersey would be comfy and hang well but the edges would roll... did you have to hem the edges?
Thanks for any info!

those are fabulous!
Can you explain how you tied the first one in blue and the last one in yellow! I have an infinity dress but I suck at finding new ways to tie it!

I just love the proportions of this gown...
Do you mind telling us how many yards that took?
I'm trying to work the numbers in my head....
Here are my thoughts/reasoning on the puzzle:
If the straps themselves are 90 inches long, if you placed them side by side on your yardage, that would be 2.5 yards by 24 inches wide (for the two of them),
and if the skirt front is the full width of the fabric (which for practical purposes I'm assuming is 60 inches) and 50 inches long, and the back ditto, for a 120 inch hem circumference, that would be 100 inches, or about another 2.8 yards, to come to a total of about 5.3 yards, with quite a bit of scrap material leftover.
BUT, if you laid the straps against the selvedge, and then cut the A-line skirt from whatever was remaining of the yardage, the bottom hem would still be about 72" (60" wide minus two 12" wide straps = 36", which would be doubled by the front and back skirt pieces, so, 72" wide at the hem) You could thereby do it for less than 3 yards of 60" wide stretchy fabric.
Is that what you did?
Or did you opt for the wider hem, and the larger piece of fabric?
(And, of course, adding a wide waistband, sometimes called a "boob tube", would add a little to the 3 yard version, and use up a little of the excess from the 5.3 yard version)

Absolutely stunning. I'm so jealous of your gorgeous caramel skin and these colors are so flattering.

Really beautiful. The colors are beautiful against your skin tone.
Can you let us know what kind of fabric and how much yardage you used? I'm going to a wedding in July and thought I would make my own dress.
If you don't have much to spend on a machine try a shop that fixes and sells them. I got one in college that way for short money, a woman traded in her home machine for some credit toward a industrial machine because she was going into business for herself. I got a great machine that was freshly serviced, a good service contract and a lot of enjoyment out of that machine for less then I would have spent on a brand new machine. Bonus was when I left school I sold it for 60% of what I paid for it origanally to another student who was in the same costume design track I was. Last time I heard the machine was still going strong.

Amazing! Your pictures have inspired me to finally make this dress. One problem I have is knowing how to tie it in all those different styles. Can you please post instructions on how you wrapped each style? Or if anyone knows if that has been posted before and can direct me? Thanks!
