Here is my hair now -- as close to my natural color as I'll ever get again, and longer than I've had it in about six years.  The curl is natural and can get really crazy sometimes.

Now, I don't need advice on a cut, but a color.  I've been red, purple, blue, black and red streaked, black and blonde streaked, and numerous brunette/plum shades.  The thing is that I just graduated from this junior college full of weird and different people (and all my crazy arty friends) and went on to a university that is about 90% prep.  I kind of went right into studying and stopped with the whole "self-expression" thing.  I want to just do something different, like I would've done a few years ago.  I've been thinking about black with a blonde or red underlayer.  Now, would that be possible with layers?  Another problem is that I'm super pale with a lot of red in my face.  I've been following this thread forever and love everyone's look -- I totally wish I could go all out with black and multi-colored!  I would love suggestions of any kind!  Just no mad rad hair, please...I already go there a lot!

Thanks,
~K

Last week I had red streaks in my hair, and I dyed blonde over the red and they turned pink (but they're all faded now) My hair is naturally goldenblonde, but I dye it different shades of blonde and sometimes red.
Here was a "hairstyle" I did. (I put my hair in a ponytail, flipped it upside down and clipped it.) When I put the picture in a myspace bulliten, everyone was like "ahhh all you hair is gone"
but I let them know it was fake Cheesy

I've been thinking about black with a blonde or red underlayer.  Now, would that be possible with layers?

Thanks,
~K

It's possible, just a little harder than doing an underlayer on long hair.  If you make the top layer too small, it looks like you're wearing a funny-looking cap on your head.   What I've done before is separated my hair in a straight line at my temples (or whatever, depending on the effect I want), applied the bleach to the upper portion and then I took small sections of hair from the bottom layer and bleached streaks of that.  You'd want to do oppositely, of course.  What that seems to do is softens that blunt edge and gives you less of the funny-looking cap appearance.
