Oh so tragically hip

I've been making a bunch of variations on this type of bag, pleated with a lid panel (or technical term thereof). This is the latest finished one and it looks a bit warped but I love how it turned out.

I used two really pretty, old placemats for the handles and top panel. It came out looking exactly like denim in the pictures though.

The blue and gray lining. I forgot to snip some of the threads before photographing.

I got about 3 pounds of these white buttons from the Salvation Army so I've been throwing them on to whatever I can. I wonder if I could spray paint some of them? I doubt it would hold up.

Critique and comments always welcome Smiley

I love the bag! Very cute shape and I like the color together too.

A button idea.  Wink
You could cut a circle of fabric and stitch around it. Pop the button in the middle and pull the string tight to gather around the button. ohlala, new button.  Wink
We all have those bits of fabric that are just too big to throw out, but what to do with them. lol

Ah I didn't even think of making them into fabric buttons! Thank you so much for the suggestion. The possibilities are endless now  Smiley
