WOW! Those are amazing! I've been trying to find a class on how to make those. It looks like it would be very relaxing. Your Grandma's are gorgeous!

Wow, just wow.

I'm speechless. Those rugs are beautiful and I do know about the craft you're talking about.

I hope to keep crafting at 95.

Rock on .

I will add my amazement to the folks here.  I've never in my life seen anything so beautiful!

L, I have one thing to say to you.  Ask her to teach you how.  This is an art that should not die.  It's stunning!

Question, is this considered to be outsider art?  It's reminiscent of some that I have seen.  Gorgeous work.

Yes, some years ago she gave me her fabric strip-cutter, and some of the wool fabric.   I've dabbled a bit with it but don't have a finished project yet.  I just have one rather large-ish project that I designed and "started" - I'm sure many craftsters know how that goes...  But I do want to do something small like a pillow or wall hanging and *finish* it!

I'm not sure what Outsider Art is, beyond just art that is self-taught...?  If anyone has any more information I'd love to learn more about that too.

Your MIL is truly an amazing, creative, talented and focused woman.  They're all simply beautiful.  Just stunning.  I especially love the quirkiness and the colors of the random sampler.  Congrats on her first art show!!  May she have many more.  Thank-you for sharing this with everyone.  Very inspiring!

...Gorgeous work.

Echoing this. She needs to mentor you while she still can. I SHOULD say, "WE need it."

Please tell Joy that she has given generations of craftsters great joy today, and we all bow in gratefulness for the beauty she has bestowed on all of us through this medium. Her diligence, vision, and creativity has blessed us beyond words. Thank you for sharing her with us.
