So my nephew decided that for Christmas & his birthday he wanted me to sew him a costume for Anime Boston. Of course, it's not something commonly found that I could just put together. It looks like it would be a simple enough pattern to put together but making a pattern is definitely not my strong suit. It's pretty much a jumpsuit and a collar. Any suggestions besides just buying the costume since it's about $125?

I would start with a raglan sleeve jumpsuit and make the necessary mods. Buy sheets from the thrift store to use as test fabrics. The best one I found is this one because it has the "princess seams" you need for the front details. You'll have to cut-and-move part of the "bodice" section to change the seam line from up to the shoulder to pointing into the armpit. Also, the pattern has set-in sleeves, not raglan, so you'll either have to Frankenstein it with a raglan pattern, or make the adjustments yourself. The trickiest part will be the closure, but eyeballing it and testing out your adjustments one or more times is the only way to get a detail like that right.

You have my sympathies, from one anime costumer to another Tongue
