Beginning Knitting

This class is for those interested in picking up the needles for the first time, or who have some experience but need a little guidance with the basics. We will cover casting stitches on the needles, the knit and purl stitch, and binding off. If you feel you have a general grasp on these techniques we can cover how to read your knitting and methods to fix common mistakes.

Time: 11-1 pm (I will be available for questions for 30 minutes after the class)
Date: Sunday May 10th
Cost: $20 for members of the PCC $25 for non-members
*Class is limited to 6 participants.

Crafty Bio: Ana Brito (http://knittingthemoon.com/blog1/) is a self-taught knitter. She initially caught the yarn bug at a young age when her grandmother taught her to crochet. Years later, she was encouraged by a friend to give knitting a try, and was immediately hooked. Ana enjoys teaching new knitters and encouraging them to look beyond the pattern to create their own unique pieces.

Beginning Spinning

The PCC is proud to present a beginning spinning class!
Already addicted to yarn? Want to learn to make your own? In this beginning spinning class, you will learn the park and draft method of spinning on a drop spindle. This ancient method of spinning is fun, portable and will give you some fun yarn to boot!

Hat Design Workshop

Hats are on of the easiest projects to knit, and with the information provided in this class, you can make creative and fun hats that fit the way you want them every time!  Join the author of Knit One, Embellish Too: Hats, Mittens, and Scarves with a Twist for this design workshop where you will learn to measure heads, find the correct fit for your hat, and play with hat shapes.

And a couple more!  RSVP to pghcraftcollective@gmail.com if interested, and more information at pghcraftcollective.com

Beginning Crochet Class

This class is appropriate for those who have never held a crochet hook or for those who have basic knowledge, but want to feel more confident.  You will learn the starting chain, single crochet, double crochet, and V-stitch. As these stitches are taught, you will be creating a sampler dishcloth than can be almost finished by the end of the class.

Location: Squirrel Hill (exact location give after registration)
Date and Time: Saturday, May 16, 2-4 pm

Cost: $20 for members of the PCC $25 for non-members
*Class is limited to 6 participants.

Bio:
Gina Grone is a self-taught crochet aficionado. She enjoys creating items in an array of categories, including baby's/children's clothing, adult clothing, scarves, toys, afghans, and purses. She especially loves starting new patterns and learning new stitches. This means that she has many unfinished projects stashed around her house!  Fortunately, this also means that she has a vast repertoire of crochet knowledge and is familiar with a wide variety of techniques, stitches, and methods.

Socks On Two Circulars

If the idea of juggling 5 double point needles and yarn keeps you away from knitting socks, this class is for you. You will learn how to cast on and knit socks on two circular needles. We will be using a basic sock pattern, but if you have a preferred pattern, feel free to bring it along. No previous sock experience is necessary. I will guide you through your pattern so you understand each section of the sock and how to get through it.

Location: Shadyside (exact location given after registration)
Time: 11-1 pm (the instructor will be available for questions for 30 minutes after the class)
Date: Saturday, May 16th

Cost:
$20 for members of the PCC $25 for non-members
*Class is limited to 6 participants.
