Beginning KnittingThis class is for those interested in picking up the needles for the first time, or who have some experience but need a little guidance with the basics. We will cover casting stitches on the needles, the knit and purl stitch, and binding off. If you feel you have a general grasp on these techniques we can cover how to read your knitting and methods to fix common mistakes.
Location: Shadyside (exact location given with RSVP)
Time: 11-1 pm (I will be available for questions for 30 minutes after the class)

Cost: $20 for members of the PCC $25 for non-members

Crafty Bio: Ana Brito (
http://knittingthemoon.com/blog1/) is a self-taught knitter. She initially caught the yarn bug at a young age when her grandmother taught her to crochet. Years later, she was encouraged by a friend to give knitting a try, and was immediately hooked. Ana enjoys teaching new knitters and encouraging them to look beyond the pattern to create their own unique pieces.
Beginning SpinningThe PCC is proud to present… a beginning spinning class!
Already addicted to yarn? Want to learn to make your own? In this beginning spinning class, you will learn the park and draft method of spinning on a drop spindle. This ancient method of spinning is fun, portable and will give you some fun yarn to boot!

Hat Design WorkshopHats are on of the easiest projects to knit, and with the information provided in this class, you can make creative and fun hats that fit the way you want them every time! Join the author of Knit One, Embellish Too: Hats, Mittens, and Scarves with a Twist for this design workshop where you will learn to measure heads, find the correct fit for your hat, and play with hat shapes.

She spends much of her time designing, knitting, spinning, dyeing, and recycling sweaters. She regularly appears at craft fairs in the Pittsburgh area and surrounding cities, selling her one-of-a-kind handknit hats and handspun yarns. Her patterns have been collected in a book called Knit One, Embellish Too: Hats, Mittens, and Scarves with a Twist.
