I wanted to make a set of runes, and I was cruising around ebay and found a set of 8 mule deer antler bits for cheap, so I said "Meh, why not?". My father in law actually cut them into little "coins" and I burned the runes into them. It wasn't particularly hard, but I enjoyed it and think it has paved the way for future bone and antler projects for me. It's a pretty neat medium to work with.

Wow, the natural antlers are a perfect material for runes.
Already I'm wondering what else you could do with these little "coins".
Very imaginative!

These are very cool.  Did the smell of them bother you at all?  Whenever I try to cut antlers, they smell just awful.  They do make great artwork though.

Awesome job.

The smell was a little overwhelming at first, but I got used to it pretty quickly. The wood burning went really well... like butter! I had a lot of fun doing these. Thanks for your kind comments!
