FMG has some interesting premade jewelry sets but I am a bit scared off because some are listed as May Contain Lead.  I definitely don't want that.. I did not even think that was legal!   I had just placed an order and have yet to receive it... their finding would have to state any lead content too right?

Graphic goddess, beading for my sanity.

If the description does not tell me what kind of metal it is made from, I don't buy it because I just don't know. You can always contact FMG and ask them. What items did you order?

I ordered gold and silver plated findings.. headpins, eyepins, jumprings, etc.

Upon looking at my catalog, it states the base metal is brass.

The premade item I was interested in was the pewter, brass, and acrylic earring mix.. reads antiqued gold colored brass and pewter is nickle free.  With a small red symbol indicating it may contain lead.  I was not sure if it is the brass elements or the pewter that may contain the lead... the beads could also be it.

I just was not sure if this was something I should be worried about.

I'm trying to stay away from anything that says, "may contain lead". What I think is illegal now is lead levels in children's jewelry - those 12 and under. You can still have a small lead content in adult jewelry, hopefully they are not putting things in their mouth!

I was surprised during one show though when a teenager came to my booth and she was sucking on the pendant on her necklace. That's why I've decided to make sure my items are lead free even for teens and up.
