Mullerslanefarm, I'd call your very dark blue-green one Nereid. It reminds me of seaweed (in a good way)!

Wow! I always love looking at these yarns. I love Unicorn Tea Party, the colors are awesome!

I have never spun my own yarn before, but looking at last week's fiber friday thread inspired me to do some research and maybe start spinning myself.

I did a little research and made a spindle (out of CDs and a dowel), and then I ordered some Merino that I got for a good price (alot of websites say that it is nice for beginners, I hope that is true haha).

I just got the package today, and I know it isn't interesting at all but I am really excited and I wanted to share...

MY FIRST WOOL EVER Cheesy
It is a mess, I was so excited to get the package I didn't want to mess with it. lol

I plan on dying it tomorrow so that I can dry it out on the line. Hopefully I will have something to post next week!!

I just started dying and spinning also. Its really alot of fun  even though I'm not a great knitter so I might never use the yarn I make. Definitely try dying with Kool Aid and food coloring. I think its the best way to start.

I finally have something to show in Fiber Friday!

This is my 4th try at spinning, and I'm so proud of it! It's the most even yarn I've spun, and the most I've managed to get onto my drop spindle! I'm not sure what wool it is, and it doesn't have a name yet, but it's 51 yards! I think I'm going to give it away on my blog :]

This is my 5th try at spinning and it didn't come out as nicely as the one above Sad But I was still pretty happy with it! I overspun this one a lot (not on purpose) so it's really twisted in some places, and is only 42 yards. It's made from merino wool, and, again, has no name!

And I went on a bit of a batt buying binge (say that 5 times fast!) this week, so I should have lots more yarn to show this week!

I call this one The Beast, on account of the amount of trouble it caused me. I am still proud of it, though - it's the first yarn of any considerable length I've ever spun, and my first EVER Fibre Friday contribution!

Sadly, due to stupidity detailed over in the babble thread, here is the pile of, unrescuable bits of yarn:

FAIL. But still, dude. I can spin :-D

I dyed some merino with Wilton's food coloring.  This is spun from ~4 oz of blue and purple with generous white sections to prevent muddiness.

Your yarn is looking gorgeous!
Love how it's turned out.

I had a go at plying for the first time ever last night and got myself into a terrible mess with it. I have no idea how you all cope, it's much harder than it looks! Mind you I'm on a drop spindle and was trying for a three-ply of each bulky singles that I'd only just spun and hadn't given a chance to settle or set, so I wasn't making it easy for myself...
