I have always loved this little book made of playing cards. Finally, I have an excuse to make one. My parents will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this summer. My brother and sister and I have been putting together a list of at least one thing that happened in our family each year since my folks got married in 1959. I made the cover and two pages today, and will be adding pages at a (hopefully) rapid pace from now until the end of July. I figured if I posted here, it will help keep me on track.  Cheesy

Edit: I'm finally completely done, with the exception of the last page (2009) which I will do after our family vacation celebrating their anniversary in August. Here's the big fatty book now:

So here's the cover:

And two pages:

The left page depicts a big Hawaiian block party that my parents hosted in 1967, and the one on the right is from 1991, when they retired early, sold all their belongings and hit the road to live life as rogue gypsies for a while.  Cheesy

Two pages down, 48 to go. Wish me luck!

There will definitely be Kleenex for Mom!

I tried to get my brother and sister to do a page or two, but neither of them is crafty and they are scared. My girls, BananaAmbush and katydidnot, said they might help though. I'm going to at least have them do the page from the year they were born.

Perfect idea!

It'd be great if you could persuade your brother and sister should have a go too, even if it's just cutting out a photo and writing their name Cheesy

What a sweet idea!! I've always wanted to make one of these too, but had no significant other. Now I just need to figure out my parents anniversary!

Can't wait to see your other pages! I love how you're working on such a small canvas.

Such a fantastic idea! You should definitely strong arm the brother and sister into helping.

This is such a great idea!  My parent's anniversary is coming up (25 years) and this is some great inspiration.
