I've been working on new quilting techniques and since I've never been really good on hand stitched applique, when I found fusible webbing, it was great!!  (but I have to admit, it seems like cheating because it's just iron fabric together but it works great and such a great timesaver)

This was a small wall hanging I made for our good friends Trevor and Samantha's wedding.  He is a painter and as he was creating work for his BFA show a couple years back, he started painting trees.  They are not normal realistic trees hence the colors.

Well without further delay...

The thread for the quilting of the trees was amazing.  They change the colors within the spool, one in purples and one in oranges.  I purposely quilting on the trees to make them stand out more but it really wasn't as "pouffy" as the photos.

Thanks for looking!!

wow, wow, wow your tree wall hanging is beautiful! I love the colours, the trees look like they are made of suede, what fabric did you use on them?

I love all your fabric choices. And if you want your tree to be puffy (poufy?) then you quilt around everything BUT the trees. You can do the decorative stitching on the applique before you apply it if you wanted stitching detail. But I am seriously loving your design. It's so fabulous!

All of the fabric is just regular cotton.  The fabric from the trees is really awesome, a great tone on tone print, orange and rust/brown and the dark purple and light purple.

Thanks for all the great compliments!!   Grin
